Leading in the School
Currently, I am serving in several leadership positions in my school.
Technology Committee: As the Creator and Chairperson of the Technology Committee, I have led a team of teachers to promote the vision of 21st Century learning at my school. With input from the team, I created a survey to send to the entire staff that polled them on their interest in several Professional Development topics. Using this data, the committee planned a schedule for technology professional development opportunities, including "How to Drive Google Drive," "What to do When You're NOT 1:1" and more.
School Leadership Team: I have been the Chairperson of the School Leadership Team for the past two years. As the elected chairperson, I create the agendas with the input from my Principal and Assistant Principal. I create and send the agenda ahead of time to SLT members for their review and input prior to our meetings. I also lead the meetings. This role has allowed me to align my classroom goals with the school's goals, while also incorporating the viewpoints of teachers from other grade levels, parents, volunteers and administration.
Grade Level Lead: As the grade level lead for Literacy, I lead the grade level during Literacy planning by creating agendas and leading meetings. I am also in charge of collaborating with the facilitator for student needs and creating agendas for Combination Planning that focuses on Data and Guided Reading.

Participation in School Committees
As a full time teacher at the Arts and Sciences Preparatory Academy, I have participated in a variety of organizations.
Leadership Team: I was nominated to join the Leadership Team. As a member, I collaborate with a team comprised of our Administrative Staff and Teachers to discuss the school, staff and community. We collaborate to plan professional development for staff. I act as a teacher leader for the elementary teachers in the building and am a designated person for communicating comments, questions and concerns that can be shared at our meetings. I also manage our Facebook page, as well as our school website.
Positive Behavior Support: I am a member of the PBS team in our school. We discuss positive behavior support within the classroom, such as the 4:1 ratio, as well as plan events for the students to celebrate good behavior. As a team, we design school wide incentives and recognition for children to identify and distinguish excellent students.
Race To The Top Transformation Team: As a team, we discuss news in education and its impact on our school. We also ensure compliance with state expectations and standards. I have organized teacher's professional development completion for professional development on the common core standards and Battelle for Kids courses.
Head of Spirit Committee: I established and currently head the Spirit Committee. We plan a variety of activities within the school to boost teacher and student morale. Every other Friday, teachers participate in a Friday breakfast. We have also planned staff events outside of school. Within the school, we plan activities for teachers to do with their students, such as door decorating competitions.

Extra Curricular Participation
During my time at Whitehills Elementary, I enjoyed participating in activities outside of the school that involved the community.
At the beginning of the year, we had an Ice Cream Social where the parents, students and families come to kick-off the new school year. I enjoyed meeting students' parents and socializing with people from the community. It gave me a chance to see my students for the first time in a different setting as well.
Later on in the year, I volunteered to help at the Science Fair. Students had been working on their projects at home for over a month and that night was their night to show off all the hard work they had done. I truly enjoyed seeing the students with their science fair displays. They had all done a marvelous job.
I also volunteered to help organize and promote Spirit Week for our March is Reading Month. I organized meetings for students to get together. We created signs to post around the school and wrote messages to deliver on our Wolfy Show every Tuesday and Thursday morning. It was enjoyable to work with my students on a project that was outside of school and their enthusiasm for Spirit Week made it a success.
